Interpol returns with two new singles and a new album
11.06.2026
Four years after their previous studio album, Interpol are back. The New York post-punk band have not only announced a brand-new record, but have also shared two new singles, ‘This Mirror Weighs a Ton’ and ‘See Out Loud’. Both tracks offer a first glimpse into the musical direction of their eighth studio album, set for release on 28 August.
The new album, also titled ‘This Mirror Weighs a Ton’, follows 2022’s ‘The Other Side of Make-Believe’. The band recorded the album in Manhattan, with producer Andrew Wyatt at the helm. Known for his work with ROSALÍA and Charli XCX, Wyatt helped Interpol explore new musical territory.
The title track, ‘This Mirror Weighs a Ton’, is expansive and atmospheric. Experimental soundscapes, distorted bass lines and layered vocals give the song a mysterious, almost cinematic quality.
‘See Out Loud’, meanwhile, stays closer to Interpol’s classic sound. Tight rhythms, angular guitars and a dark, nocturnal atmosphere evoke memories of the band’s early work.
With these two songs, Interpol appear to be striking a balance between reinvention and familiarity. For fans, they provide an exciting first introduction to an album that could mark another compelling chapter in the band's career, now spanning more than two decades.
If you would like to see Interpol live, you can catch them at Forest National on Wednesday 18 November 2026.
